Bourges Boulevard Bridge

A familiar site to current day Peterborians – the footbridge over Bourges Boulevard from the station to the Queensgate shopping centre, pictured here during construction.

Bus on Bourges Boulevard

Superb image from the early 1970s showing a bus heading down Bourges Boulevard with the Woolworths building far left and the old Huntings Butchers still standing defiantly but dwarfed alongside it !

Demolition of the Royal Mail sorting office

The first week of June 2010 saw the demise of the old Royal Mail sorting office on Bourges Boulevard as the area prepared for the “station quarter” redevelopment.

Station Quarter redevelopment 2010

The first stage of the “station quarter” redevelopment commenced with the demolition of the old Royal Mail sorting and mailing office on Bourges Boulevard. The work migrated from the offices from 1996 onwards to new premises on Papyrus Road, Werrington.

Initial plans are to build a 500 space car-park on the site but, ultimately, the area will be embraced by the redevelopment of the railway station area – plans for which have yet to be finalised.
