LNER A1 Class # 4470 “Great Northern” awaiting departure from Peterborough North with a Kings Cross bound train. Doncaster built and introduced to service in 1922, “Great Northern” was briefly based at New England in 1950 and went on to see out 40 years of service before being withdrawn in 1962 and scrapped at the very works that built it !
