Baker Perkins, Westwood Works Fire 1922

A fantastic collection of images mostly provided by Glyn and Cynthia Hall, showing the results of the Westwood Works fire in 1922.

The fire broke out in the Paint Shop during the early hours of 2nd March 1922 and rapidly spread with such intensity that the roof girders started to melt and buildings collapsed. Firemen from Peterborough City and Volunteer fire brigades tackled the fire, supported by the Old Fletton and Midland Railway brigades who brought the fire under control by dawn the following day.
