A horse drawn coach approaching the site of the old Fox and Hounds pub in Longthorpe on 26th June 1929 during Civic Week. The visit was part of the “Beating of the Bounds” tour where civic dignitaries toured the city to formally meet and greet parish leaders from areas being newly incorporated into the city boundaries.
These included Longthorpe, Walton, Werrington, Paston & Gunthorpe and “Peterborough Without” who were met at the Thorney boundary.
The original thatched Fox and Hounds, just left of the photo, had actually burnt down in January 1928 so at this point was still awaiting rebuild to today’s building.
