Thompson Class A2/3 #60500 “Edward Thompson” reversing into Peterborough North station in 1957. Built at Doncaster in 1946, this superb 101 ton engine saw out its later days based at New England where it was eventually withdrawn from service in the summer of 1963 and shamefully cut up at Doncaster Works later that year.
