Home Villages Newark Newark Cottage

Newark Cottage

A delightful old cottage on Oxney Road next to the village school (far left). The village of Newark largely sat where today’s parkway junction next to Eastfield Sainsburys is and these cottages would sit under today’s exit road from Sainsburys to the parkway.

Thanks to Sue Nicholls for the photo who adds, “the cottage belonged to my Aunt Hepzibah Howes until it burnt down when renewing the thatch. The bungalow that was built to replace it was pulled down to build the ring road. The school is next to the cottage”.
