Dating back to the 1500s, Orton Hall has served many purposes from the family home of the Marquess of Huntly, a girls school, a comandeered army base during world war two and, of course, today’s hotel.
The building is a conglomeration of various elements built at different stages of its history, starting in the 1500s but with the bulk dating from the 1830s when London based architect GH Smith gave it most of today’s more distinctive features.
