A lovely mid-1960s image showing a pristine Wirrina Stadium on Bishops Road.
The idea behind the stadium was hatched in 1960 by local boxing promoter Jimmy Sanger who gained local backing for a self funding “Peterborough Youth Stadium” concept that then took a full eight years to materialize with the, now renamed, Wirrina Stadium opening its doors to the public on 1st June 1968.
